Qedamawi is a studio dedicated to the authentic representation of African stories from our own perspective.
Qedamawi was established in early 2018 with a fundamental objective of creating a comic book that is both authored and designed by Africans, representing not only Africans themselves, but also a broader audience. Swiftly, we embarked on the artistic development of alternate versions of historical figures from Ethiopia, which resonated well with a dedicated online community. Qedamawi comics endeavors to establish a platform that will showcase original narratives rooted in the rich cultural heritage of this remarkable continent.

BUGNAD is the name of the city where our story happens. The story centers around two main characters Ghuddit and Gayem who are from opposite ends of the social spectrum. Ghuddit is raised in the royal castle with her father who has served multiple kings as a senior advisor and captain of the royal guards. She lost her mother as a child and is thus heavily influenced by her father and need to honor her family in battle. Gayem on the other hand is a petty thief who grew up in the streets of Bugnad living on a day to day basis fending for himself by stealing anything of value he can get his hands on. He has led a hard life but it has hardened him over the years. He is a very smart and witty character that opts to use his mind than force to get what he wants. At the beginning of our story we find him trying to sneak into the castle ground during the day of the king’s coronation to acquire something for a client that has offered him money in exchange for his skills. That is where our two heroes first meet. She tries to stop him but he gets the better of her and escapes with the artifact he was sent to steal. She vows to find and recover what is stolen so begins their journey.
